WHY MEDITATE?

The benefits of establishing a regular meditation practice are well documented in scientific literature. Meditation can greatly reduce stress, by inducing the relaxation response and decreasing circulating levels of cortisol, a stress hormone. Regular meditators report a decrease in anxiety, insomnia, PMS, chronic pain, and hypertension. Meditation contributes to increases in self-esteem, mental clarity, focus, creativity, joy, and memory.

QUIETING THE MIND

If you think you can not sit still, or quiet your mind for even a minute, you are not alone! At Blue Lotus, our meditation instruction is tailored to your personality and individual needs. Not all meditation techniques work for everyone! We provide instruction in a variety of styles and traditions so you will find a technique that will work for you.

GROUP MEDITATION

Why meditate in a group? A group provides a supportive, nurturing environment for new meditators. Having the support of long time meditators is important in establishing a practice. 

Blue Lotus offers a weekly meditation group on Tuesdays from 430pm - 545pm.  Our goal is to provide participants with tools to establish their own home practice. We will explore the Eight Limb Path of Yoga, including philosophy, and teachings in an interactive, supportive learning environment. The group is also based on our 2010 Yoga Book in Common; Meditations from the Mat by Rolf Gates. Currently the group is for Blue Lotus students only, or with prior permission of instructor.  Please call for further details prior to attending:  530-895-YOGA (9642).

 

INDIVIDUAL AND WORKPLACE WELLNESS OFFERINGS

Lisa is a registered nurse, massage therapist, and registered yoga teacher with over twenty years of health care experience. She skillfully integrates western medicine and eastern yogic principles to create wellness offerings customized to meet individual client’s needs. Lisa’s unique approach to wellness focuses on bringing the body and mind into union, thus creating an environment where healing and change will occur naturally.

As most diseases afflicting Americans are lifestyle related, Lisa’s mission is to provide clients with tools allowing them to embrace a healthy lifestyle in our fast-paced society; to live in this world, but not be of it. Lisa’s energy, enthusiasm and passion for health and wellness, inspires clients toward more balanced, joyful lives.

Specialty areas include stress/anxiety reduction, workplace wellness, meditation, intuitive chakra healing, and the mind body connection for weight loss and diabetes management, and yoga therapy.
